Mod support is coming to both consoles. But there is one significant difference.Bethesda highlighting again one of the key differences between mod support on the two consoles. The FAQ states:“Note on Mods: For Skyrim Special Edition, Mods will reserve 5 GB and 1 GB of space on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, respectively.”This limit highlights the major difference between the two versions. External assets can be used for Xbox One, but not PS4In a post announcing mods were, Bethesda made it clear you cannot upload external assets with PlayStation 4 mods.
Xbox One mods are not bound by this. It’s also the reason we see the disparity between mod sizes.Skyrim Special Edition PS4 mods can use in-game assets. Since in-game assets don’t take as much space, the 1 GB limit shouldn’t be much of an issue. What it does mean is none of the sheer absurdity from Ultimate Skyrim for PS4 players.Xbox One players will be limited to 5 GB. That’s up from the 2 GB restriction in Fallout 4. April 4, 2019But the PS4 is at a distinct disadvantage with the lack of external assets in mods.It all depends on why you want Skyrim Special Edition in the first place. If mods are the strong selling point, the Xbox One version has a clear advantage.
After that, it’s mostly tied to which console you own/play the most on.Missed out on Skyrim at launch? I wish I were you.

With that said, here are five mods you definitely want to use during your Skyrim Special Edition experience on the PS4.Editor’s note: It does take a bit for the mods to load on Skyrim Special Edition for PS4. However, I have yet to experience any game crashes or extended loading times with any of these mods. If you do experience extended loading times, try switching the order of your mods in the interface. As always, use mods at your own risk.
Follow the directions on each mod as some are not compatible with others. I recommend starting a separate file with mods turned on, if possible.Hate carry weight restrictions? Need some fast coins? Want to make your own weapons without finding resources? This mod is for you. The cheat mod gives you crafting and alchemy resources as well as A LOT of gold.
However, looting and selling is such a fun part of the game, we recommend skipping the gold part. This isn’t The Sims.If you’re a hoarder like me, you’ll want that unlimited space in your pack. Carry weight is annoying; no one has time to deal with that. Loot and scavenge as much as you want when you equip the Ring Of Increased Carry Weight. Warning: This mod is not compatible with the cheat mod above.
It’s one of the other.Forgot something in Whiterun, but don’t want to leave Solitude? The cloud storage mod allows you access your weapons from any inn. This is for the lazy people who don’t want to fast travel.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition has received a new update today that coincides with the new creation club content. If you aren’t a keen user of the creation club, this update might prove to be useless, and it is, unfortunately, a mandatory requirement to download it. The download size is not small either, and it weighs in at around 1.4 GB on the PS4 and Xbox One.What’s Included In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Update Version 1.12?Bone WolfDespite being raised by necromancers, a Bone Wolf’s true loyalty is earned through actions rather than magic. A faithful companion with a bone to pick, this skeletal pet will reward your friendship by carrying items and boosting your damage against the undead.Staff of HasedokiIt’s said the wizard Hasedoki traveled all of Tamriel in search of his equal, before binding his soul to a staff.
Through the years this mysterious weapon has changed many hands, as if warding off anyone who isn’t worthy enough to claim it. Now, it’s your turn.Wild HorsesThe horses of Skyrim are hardy and strong, and taming them requires grit and patience. Use a hostler’s map to find these animals in the wild and mount them, and try not to get bucked!
Once tamed, you can register them at the nearest stable and customize their saddles, as well as the saddles of any other horse you own. You may even find the rare unicorn brought back from dead, to right a wrong of the past. This is the creation club content that has been teased for October and will likely be a part of this new update.
As I've mentioned in other threads, I'm doing a Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim/Fallout 3/Fallout New Vegas/Fallout 4 run lately and several of these games I've never played. I have indeed played Skyrim before, though - but I've only dabbled in Special Edition for a handful of hours. I'm nearing the end of Oblivion this week and while I'm not yet sure whether I'll move on to Fallout 3 or Skyrim next, I figured I'd make a thread for opinions on which PS4 mods are best for improving immersion (ie weather, lighting, etc). And maybe I'll dabble in some gameplay improvement mods too (like I saw a cool NPC realism enhancement mod - not sure whether that'd fall under immersion or gameplay, but yeah). What I'm not looking for is lore-breaking funny stuff like the Thomas the Tank Engine mod, lol. I applaud that stuff but it's not really my aim here. I'd just like to improve the beauty and immersion of the game to get sucked in all the more so. I know the PS4 restricts me to a handful of the stuff available on other platforms but I've taken a quick glance and there seem to be a few cool mods.
But the community here is bound to have a better answer than my super-amateur self could muster. Are there any particular mods to keep an eye out for? Are there any I should particularly avoid?
For cosmetic improvement mods I have the fallen trees, additional lamp posts, additional way signs and visually overhauled towns with unique guard attire and unique house decoration. Those are imo all things that visually enhance the game without compromising the original artistic vision the creators had. I for example wouldn't add a different weather mod, that doesn't fit to Skyrim's climate or more trees in towns where they don't belong.I do also have some quality of life improvement mods affecting gameplay, like followers and spouses not being able to die, vampires not attacking towns and merchants being richer.I'd gladly use a dragons not attacking towns mod, for some reason there is none though. I really hate fast travelling to a town and in 90% of all cases a dragon appearing and wrecking the place. This one made me chuckle. Thanks for the recommendations! I looked these up and they all sound good for what I'm looking for.I did some digging and found a good Reddit post. I haven't had a chance to look into all of these yet and I can already tell some aren't gonna work for me but some of it does look pretty nifty.
Be advised it doesn't contain a load order suggestion but the OP has a link that seems to cover that alright. For some reason that link seems to be for my app so if it doesn't work just search 'Skyrim PS4 best mods Reddit' and it ought to be the top suggestion.I may chat more about these later tonight when I check them out but I won't be moving on to Skyrim just yet so I can't test them!
